KOKRAJHAR (ASSAM), February 23 (PTI):  Normal life was partially affected in several districts of the state following a 12-hour Assam Bandh sponsored today by the All Adivasi Students’Association of Assam in protest against the killing of its President Bosco Charmaco yesterday, official sources said.
The bandh affected parts of Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Darrang, Chirang and Karbi Anglong districts with vehicular traffic remaining off the roads and most shops, business establishments and educational institutions were closed. Though some government offices were open, the attendance was thin, the sources said.
Vehicular traffic on NH-31 came to a standstill with all long-distance buses and trucks stranded on the highway. More than 300 picketers were picked up from different parts of Sonitpur district, the sources said. Charmaco was killed yesterday by unknown gunmen at Jacobpur under Gossaigaon police station.
His body was taken out today in a procession and later buried in his village Padumbeel amidst tight security. The student''s body has demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing and immediate arrest of the culprits.
