Assam Don Bosco University convocation on September 23

Guwahati, September 21 (MExN): The Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) will hold its 12th Convocation on September 23 at Tapesia Campus, Sonapur, Guwahati.

Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria, the visitor of the University, among others, will grace the event.  Students from various states of India and from diverse countries around the world will be awarded their degrees at the convocation. 

A press release from the university informed that degrees will be conferred on 1286 students, comprising of 555 students bachelor's degree in Engineering & Technology, Arts and Basic Sciences and 731 Master’s degree in various branches of Engineering, Science, Humanities and Management. 

Doctoral degrees will be conferred to 23 scholars. 

Under the university’s Global Online and Distance Education Programme, 134 students will receive degree and 6 students will receive diploma under various programmes.

A total of 28 students will attend the convocation from various parts of the world, the release said. 

Gold Medals will be presented to 36 outstanding graduates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in each programme, spanning various categories. 

The Chancellor’s medal for outstanding graduate in Post Graduate (PG) courses and the Vice Chancellor’s medal for outstanding graduate in Under Graduate (UG) courses for notable and exceptional contributions to campus life will also be awarded at the convocation. 

‘Father Mavely Gold Medal’ and ‘Shri Jn Bawri Memorial Gold Medal,’ two newly introduced awards which will be given to those exceptional graduates who have exhibited their talents in academics, social commitment, leadership roles and in curricular and extracurricular activities.  

Established in 2008 as the first State University of Assam in the private sector accredited “A” grade by NAAC. ADBU is managed by the Don Bosco Society, which runs 42 institutes of higher education as well as 123 institutes for Technical and Vocational Training in India, the releaseb added.
