Awareness on Sakhi-One Stop Centre held

Longleng, May 14  (MExN): In a bid to raise awareness on women empowerment, the Sakhi-One Stop Centre Longleng conducted awareness program for women at Longleng town Baptist Church and Phomla Hoichem Office (the apex women organization of Phom cummunity) on May 9 and 13 respectively.

The programme was conducted as part of the IEC (information, Education & Communication) curriculum of the centre, a DIPR report stated. The main purpose was to disseminate information on women centric issues and rights. While addressing the gathering, C. Henchem Phom Centre Administrator Longleng gave a brief introduction on the functioning of Sakhi-One Stop Centre, the various services available and how to avail as such. She also highlighted the importance of women helpline 181 and its importance and assistance to aggrieved women.  While P. Phungla Phom WWO, MSK highlighted various schemes and support provided for the women & girl child. She also emphasized on the BBBP, SSA and PMMVY.

Counselor Nyangyungsangla Phom spoke on various Legal women rights and Acts such as Domestic Violence Act 2005, POCSO 2012, and Juvenile Justice Care & Protection Act 2000.

Shamthai Phom, President Phomla Hoichem gave an introductory speech, an interactive sessions and suggestive measures to successfully implement the scheme at Longleng was also held. The gathering was attended by several women elders and leaders from the district.
