Patkai, April 23 (MExN): A one-day career fair was organised by Career Guidance Cell and Young Indians (Yi) of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) at Bundrock Chapel. Altogether, 11 organisations comprising of educational institutes, career and training institutes, business entities participated in the fair to guide the students, PCC Mass Communication stated in a press release.

Resource person, Dr Yan Murry, Founder, Pinnacle delved on soft and hard skills and the opportunities in central services urging the students to not limit oneself in state jobs. While reminding that “Nagaland has the highest number of educated unemployed youths,” he underscored the importance of skills and the need to train oneself in acquiring certain skills. 

Murry directed the attention of the audience on investments, stock markets and mutual funds. According to him, “Nagaland population is yet to explore these areas” which he said has good returns. 

Albert A Sangtam, Founder and Director, Clefnote Music Academy, Yi Yuva Chair, Nagaland highlighted on the importance of human resource management in Nagaland, and talked about the importance of internship. Encouraging the students to be industry ready, he urged them to take every opportunity as a challenge, and said, “Don’t be a job seeker be a job creator.”

Er A Lumtsala Sangtam, SDO PWD (Housing) Tuensang referring to common tendency of giving up halfway in one’s pursuit in Nagaland, she said, “we have to be persistent in our endeavours and passionate about our work.” One has to enjoy their work rather than considering it as a labour dividend job, only then can we be productive and bring change in our society, she added.

The first session concluded with an interaction round between the students and the resource persons and the 3rd year students headed for the 2nd session of the career fair. 

Myan Ngullie, Director, Hubshed service PVT Ltd, Yi Yuva Co- Chair, Nagaland moderated the interactive session. Earlier, Principal of Patkai College, Dr T Peiru welcomed the guests, students and faculty. 

The guiding organisations were, Northeast Christian University, Northeast Institute of Social Sciences and Research, The Entrepreneurs Associates, Kaziranga University, Axis Bank, Emporium, Pinnacle Skills, Educentre Nagaland, Green Caravan, Nagaland Toolroom and Training Centre, and Chabou & Co, Niathu Group.

Photography workshop
Meanwhile, the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication, Patkai Christian College (A) in collaboration with NIKON India conducted a one-day workshop on photography at its studio on Saturday. 

OSD, PCC, Rokosito Khro in his words of encouragement motivated the students to never have the give up attitude. 

Asserting that the youths in Nagaland have the potential to excel and change the socio-economic dynamics of the state, he encouraged the students to believe their worth and be the ambassadors of positive change in the society. 

Taking cue from the success story of trials and tribulations of KFC Founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, the OSD PCC urged the students to not be discouraged when failures comes  their way. He said, rather take that failure as a next step to get better. He also advised the students to be productive and make the best use of the dept facilities. 

Soumya Maitra as resource person from NIKON India demonstrated various techniques of photography and filmmaking. The students were on the day taken for a photography walk to get hands on training on latest gadgets launched by NIKON.

Wildlife photographer Onenjungshi Ao and officials from NIKON India were also present on the day. Earlier, Sopei Rungsung, Assistant Professor, welcomed the guests and students.
