Longleng DPDB discusses grievances faced by Police dept

•     DEF Longleng functioning without Unit Quarter Guard 
•     Arms and ammunitions kept at Police Station 'not secure'
•     Lack of NAP Barrack in district headquarters
•     Need for electrification at Yonglok Police Station

 

Longleng, February 8 (MExN): The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting of Longleng was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC), M Shayung Phom on February 6 at DC’s conference hall.


The DC while welcoming the members present reiterated on attending the DPDB meetings without fail, asserting that DPDB was an important meeting of the district which is held once a month.


Additional Superintendent of Police, Atopu Sumi highlighted the grievances faced by the Police department in the district. He informed the house that the DEF Longleng was functioning without Unit Quarter Guard and “presently all arms and ammunitions are kept at Police Station which was not secure.”


Sumi also informed about lack of NAP Barrack in the district headquarters and electrification at Yonglok Police Station which “is very essential for smooth functioning of the Police force in the district.”


Accordingly, the board forwarded for construction of unit quarter guard at Longleng and electrification of Yonglok Police station and NAP camp at Yonglok.

 
The board deliberated on re-up-gradation of Government Middle School, Buranamsang to Government High School. In this regard, ADC Longleng Robin informed that the School was downgraded because of poor performance, use of unqualified proxy teachers by the school management board.


The ADC Tamlu, in this regard suggested verification of the School along with DEO and SDEO Longleng to identify its performance, and decided to verify the school before the next meeting.  

 
CMO Longleng presented a brief report on the outbreak of Coronavirus in China and its history in other parts of the world earlier. She appealed to the members not to panic but talked about the need to learn basic things like prevention of the virus through proper use of mask, to detect the virus and give proper treatment in isolation ward if a patient is suspicious of being infected by the novel virus.


Since the virus is transmitted from animals, the CMO advised the members to keep their pets clean and wash hands properly after touching their pet animals. 


Medical Superintendent, DH Longleng also informed that although the District Hospital is not equipped to fight and detect Coronavirus, however, a separate isolated ward is reserved for any infected patient in the district as directed.
