The Congress party leaders in Manipur on October 28 submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India through the state Governor with regard to the Manipur integrity issue.

The leaders of the Congress party in Manipur which included among others former chief minister O Ibobi Singh, former deputy CM Gaikhangam who is also Congress Central Working Committee (CWC) and recently appointed MPCC president M Okendro went to Raj Bhavan and submitted the memorandum to Prime Minister through the Governor.

The Congress delegation entered the Raj Bhavan around 11 am and came out around 12.30 pm after the appointment with the Governor.

After coming out of the Raj Bhavan, former chief minister O Ibobi Singh said that the Governor assured forwarding the memorandum to the PMO "immediately."

Ibobi also said that the state is currently plagued with unrest arising out of the "Centre’s three months' deadline" to conclude the Naga peace process.

Considering the time factor, the Congress had decided to submit the memorandum to the Prime Minister with copies to the Union Home minister and state Governor to inform them about people’s as well as state Congress strong opposition to any agreement that infringes the interest of Manipur.

The state Congress took the decision to submit the memorandum as the state government "failed" to take initiative for sending the all-party delegation till date, he said.
