Manipur Cooperation Minister takes part in IICTF 2019

Manipur Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen, while participating in the first ever India International Cooperatives Trade Fair (IICTF), 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on October 11, highlighted on how the cooperative sector in Manipur have significantly revived under the leadership of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

 

Talking to the medias, Nemcha said the government has come up with various schemes to energize the cooperative sector in the state. At present, there are 10, 916 cooperative societies having 8,06,105 members in all the 16 districts of Manipur, she said. 

 

Nemcha added that though Manipur belongs to the least developed in cooperative movement, some cooperatives categories like handloom & handicraft, transport, dairy, agriculture, horticulture, thrift and credit, fisheries, piggery, poultry, amongst others were working at the best level.

 

Nemcha also said that efforts to implement all important schemes of the government for the benefit of the people of the state are also being taken up.

 

Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, Narendra Singh Tomar graced the occasion as chief guest.    

 

During the inaugural ceremony of IICTF, Yuva Sahakar, Cooperative Enterprise Support and Innovation Scheme 2019 was also launched. The scheme is in line with the vision of Prime Minister’s focus on programmes like Start-up India and Stand-up India that aims at young entrepreneurs with new and innovative ideas.

 

Nemcha expressed optimism that once this scheme reaches the youth of Manipur, it will solve the problem of unemployment of youths.

 

The Renu Handloom Cooperative Society, Mantripukhri of Imphal East district was the only cooperative society from Manipur representing the state amongst the 120 Indian cooperatives and 20 organizations from Centre, states , UTs and around 35 countries from six continents.
