Manipur: Old Age Pension for 6 districts distributed

Under the ‘Go to Village Mission,’ Manipur Social Welfare department has transferred Manipur Old Age Pension (MOAP) fund for 6 districts  to 10,811  newly selected beneficiaries today. 

 

Pension benefits for remaining 10,022 would also be transferred as soon as reports from the remaining districts are received. This was conveyed to the media by Social Welfare Director, Ng. Uttam Singh in his Office chamber.

 

Addressing a press conference at his office chamber, Ng. Uttam said, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur launched “Go to Village” mission on May 1, 2018 in 60 villages of all the 60 assembly constituencies in the State. As part of the Mission, the department of Social Welfare has issued forms for different beneficiary oriented schemes to eligible and deserving beneficiaries residing at every corner of the State by the concerned Nodal Officers of the department.

 

The officer stated that during the Mission, a total of 25,312 application forms have been received for availing benefit under Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme till June, 2019, out of which 20833 beneficiaries were identified from the application form received as on May 9, 2019 through the Mission and 4479 applicants have been left out due to non availability of adequate fund. He maintained that remaining applicants will be considered after due availability of vacancy arising from time to time.

 

The director then said that in compliance of the instruction issued by Govvernment all the District Social Welfare Officers have been directed to communicate with the concerned MLAs to confirm the genuiness of the beneficiaries under “Go to Village” programme. The department directed DSWOs concerned to furnish the reports on or before September 10, 2019 after due communication with the concerned MLAS for taking necessary action.

 

Though reports from some districts are still awaited, State Government has  agreed to transfer fund for 6 district for 10811 beneficiaries through Public Finance Management System (PFMS) to Manipur State Co-operative Bank today. The MSCB will deposit the amount in their respective bank accounts.

 

The remaining Pension benefits will be transfer in a phase manner after field verification reports are received. The Department is grateful to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and Minister (Social Welfare) Nemcha Kipgen for their wonderful initiatives and it won’t be possible to give such benefits to the aged people of the State without their dynamic leadership and abled guidance, he added.

 

The Director urged the beneficiaries to maintain same name and address in Bank account/Pass Book, Aadhar card and voter i/card since they are all linked.
