Manipur defeat Nagaland by 117 runs

 

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 14 (MExN): Manipur defeated Nagaland by 117 runs in the men’s under 23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy at the Bengal Cricket Academy Ground at Kalyani. 


Nagaland won the toss and elected to field first. In Manipur’s first innings, the team managed to score 210 runs before being bowled out in 59 overs. Nitesh with 82 runs and Bikash with 51 runs were their top scorers. 


For Nagaland, Liremo took 4 wickets while A Vaighav bagged 3 wickets and Akavi too 2 wickets. 


Nagaland’s first innings went poorly with the team being bowled out in 55.3 overs for just 139 runs. Wahid with 52 runs was the team’s top scorer. 


For Manipur, Bikash bagged 4 wickets while Kishan took 3 wickets. 


In the second innings, Manipur declared at 325 for 9 in 103 overs. Guniram was the team’s top scorer in the second innings with 81 runs followed by Johnson with 73 runs.

 
Akavi took 3 wickets for Nagaland in the second innings. 


Nagaland failed to achieve the target being bowled out for 279 runs in 73.4 overs. Akavi was the pick of the batsmen in the second innings with 107 runs, while Nikhil also contributed 64 runs. 


For the Manipur team, Nitesh took 5 wickets while Bikash had a haul on 3 wickets. 


Meanwhile the Senior Nagaland  Mens team has left for Kolkata for the first away Ranji Trophy match versus Manipur from December 17 to 20. The Nagaland team also thanked the NSF and DNSU for allowing them to travel during the bandh period.
