KU cancels Aoleng Monyu festival 

Mon, March 19 (MExN): The Konyak Aoleng Monyu Mini Hornbill Festival 2020 scheduled in the first week of April 2020 at Mon Headquater has been cancelled as precautionary measures due to the outbreak of Covid-19. KU General Secretary Wango Konyak and Press Secretary Pangmei Konyak in a press release said that during an emergency meeting of KU Advisory Board held on March 18, the house decided to host the Mini Hornbill Festival during the post harvest festival “Lao Ong Mo 2020.” Further, the Union has appealed to the general masses of Mon district to refrain from spreading unnecessary rumours through social media and not to panic in this kind of situation. It also appealed to the administration and health department to continuously monitor and any information regarding this issue should be updated. 

 

DNSU to monitor illegal hike of prices

Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has taken serious note on the excess price charged by shops selling hand sanitisers and especially face mask. The Union in a press release issued by its Media Cell stated the Union will strictly monitor and stern action will be initiated against the defaulters if not sold according to government order and Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association prescribed rate. DNSU has appealed the state government to provide free mask to the general public. Further, the public are asked to remain calm, be precautious, spread awareness and report if any shops are found indulging in illegal hike of prices at 8974508102, +913862355335.

 

LSU requests for thermal 
scanner in Wokha dist 

Wokha, March 19 (MExN): The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has appeal to the department concerned to issue thermal scanner and necessary equipments required in Wokha district at the earliest it shares the longest border belt with Assam and requires to cross-check all inbound commuters.  LSU President Ashanthung Humtsoe and General Secretary Pithungo Shitio in a press release also requested the department to issue adequate safety suit to those engaged in checking at check gate stating that with students returning back home from different states in India due to the epidemic COVID-19 it requires intensive checking and screening for safety. The Union also advised the students and other just returning from outside Nagaland to Wokha district to be home quarantined immediately. The Union further restricts all picnic activities under its jurisdiction. 

 

NSUP provides service for Naga students  

Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Naga Students’ Union Phagwara (NSUP) executives held an emergency meeting chaired by its president Imsanger Jamir on March 18.  “Various possible measures for the prevention of the virus were discussed and decisions were made regarding the same. Due to the complete shutdown of universities and colleges, varying number of students has already departed for home and the few remaining are still residing within the campus,” the Union stated.  The NSUP executives have decided to provide hand sanitizers and masks for all Naga students who still remain within the campus and unable to avail such facilities. At present no cases of students being infected by the virus has been reported.  The Union urged Naga students to undergo thermal screening present at the university main gate and also in case of any emergencies or queries a helpline has been setup for the Naga students. IPR Dept impose restriction on visitors 

Kohima, March 19 (MExN): The IPR Department has resolved that only visitors with genuine office relate work will be allowed to enter IPR Citadel, Kohima from March 20 during visiting hours (11:00 am to 2:00 pm). This was decided during the quarterly meeting of the offices and staff of Directorate of Information & Public Relations on March 19 held at the IPR Citadel Conference Hall. It was also decided to prohibit visitors from touching/handling office files and papers. All visitors with official work or seeking appointment with Officers of DIPR have been requested to inform the reception at the main entrance.  The meeting also resolved to maintain personal hygiene amongst the staff and to keep their respective rooms, sections and corridors of the Office building sanitized as precautionary measures in the outbreak of COVID-19.   

 

Rural functionaries informed to ‘remain alert’

Kohima, March 19 (MExN): In view of the urgent need to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State, the Rural Development Department has informed all rural functionaries of the State, VDBs, and SHGs (NSRLM) to ‘remain alert’ to the risk posed by COVID-19, and have been directed to ensure the following precautionary measures: To immediately report to the District Administration about any causes of concern related to the symptoms of COVID-19 among any of its citizens; To restrict unnecessary entry/movement of its citizens and visitors to the villages; To implement orders/advisories issued by the government from time to time, in particular concerning public gatherings, unnecessary travel, etc.

 

Bhandari takes preventive measures

Bhandari, March 19 (MExN): The district administration, Bhandari has notified that issue of new/fresh Inner Line Permits for both foreign and domestic tourists, including temporary permits will remain suspended till further notice. It also notified that in view of the WHO’s declaration of Covid-19 as pandemic and with various advisory from the government, the public of Bhandari subdivision was informed that the weekly bazaars held at various locations including Bhandari town on Wednesdays and Baghty on Thursday will remain suspended temporarily until further notice as precautionary measure for public safety.

 

Auto drivers in Dimapur informed 

Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): The Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (DDADU), concerning the COVID-19 pandemic has informed all the auto drivers plying in and around Dimapur city to keep their autos clean by washing their vehicle everyday and also use face masks and hand sanitizers. DDADU in a press release issued by its president Tito Yeptho said that this should be compulsorily followed by the drivers as regular checking by the union will be conducted. The Union also stated that the medical personnel on duty in case of any emergencies for the public welfare can avail the DADU ambulance (contact number 7005041574). The Union also informed that in case of any medical personnel facing difficulties to reach their place of duty, autos will held them in such case for free.
