FGN issues ‘Ahza’ on IMFL, drugs, Sunday trade

Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) today declared a “Prohibition Ahza” on Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), prohibited drugs and opening of shops on Sunday. As per ‘Azha’ issued by the FGN Acting Kedahge Namrikiu, the peddling and consumption of prohibited drugs; supply and sale of IMFL drinks and opening of shops on Sunday have been declared “banned and prohibited in Nagaland.” These activities affect “our national image and wellbeing of our people,” it said. “Violators and offenders of this prohibitory Ahza and warning by anybody shall invite and face legal penalties from the FGN,” it added. “Nagaland is a Christian state and nation upholding and practicing Christian ethic besides respecting the social, cultural and traditional values of our unique Naga life and identity at all times,” the FGN stated.

Northeast Youth Leaders Conclave in Kohima

Kohima, October 4 (MExN): The National Foundation for India (NFI) is set to host a two-day Northeast Youth Leaders Conclave in Nagaland at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima on November 7 and 8 with the theme ‘Empowering Youth Leadership: Bridging Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Inclusive Socio-Economic Development.’ Interested participants can submit their applications until October 10. Nagaland Gov extends festival greetings

Kohima, October 4 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesha has conveyed festival greetings to Pochury brothers and sisters as they celebrate Yemshe festival. Yemshe is celebrated to welcome the new harvest as well as blessings of the year long toils and hardwork. It is also a festival to renew relationship with exchange of feast and gifts. “May this auspicious occasion continue to usher in peace, unity and prosperity,” he stated. The Governor also extended festival greetings to Khiamniungan brothers and sisters as they celebrate the Tsokum festival. In his message, Ganesha stated that Tsokum is celebrated to invoke blessing for a bountiful harvest and wellness in the family. Sharing of Produces with one another is a wonderful practice during the celebration. I hope that this beautiful festival with its underlying essence of promoting peace and prosperity will bring blessings to all. “I wish you all good health, peace and prosperity. NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) greets

Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) has conveyed greetings on the occasion of Yemshe and Tsokum festivals of the Pochury and Khiamniungan people. In a press note the NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) stated that both Yemshe and Tsokum are pre-harvest festivals of the Pochury and Khiamniungan tribe invoking God's blessing for the harvest and is celebrated with great pomp and gaiety in anticipation of a good and bountiful harvest “The NSCN is of the firm belief that through this festivities, both our Pochury and Khiamniungan brothers and sisters will surely be blessed with abundance and bountiful harvest and will also continue to be the pathfinders and peacemakers between our Naga family,” it added.

Tsokum, Yemshe festival greetings

Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang has extended greetings to Khiamniungan and Pochury communities on the occasion of Tsokum and Yemshe festival respectively. TR in a press note said that Tsokum and Yemshe festivals are celebrated with thanks giving to the Almighty to welcome arrival of new harvest and it plays an important role in the life of both the communities, especially in the context of preserving cultural and traditional heritage. TR wished all members of both the tribes a bountiful harvest and prosperous years ahead.
