Nagaland: Rio highlights development activities, initiatives under PDA government

  Our Correspondent Kohima | November 8 Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today highlighted some of the developmental activities and initatives under PDA government in the state at the 3rd general convention of the NDPP here today at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.   He said as part of good governance and transparency, the government said that it has done away with VIP culture.   “All government departments have their websites along with presence on social media to make the government more accessible to people,” he said adding that CM Dashboard have been launched to give real time updates about key schemes and programmes.   He also stated that biometric attendance for government employees has been made mandatory.   “The educational facilities and teachers have been digitally mapped with modern technology to ensure transparency,” he said. Improvement of roads, communication, transport Rio said that one of the top priorities of PDA government has been to ensure better roads, adding that the government have taken up repair of all major roads in all districts.   He added that work on Kohima Dimapur 4-laning being monitored closely.   Also informing that most of the state roads and district roads suffered heavy damages due to rains and landslides, he said funds were raised for CM Relief Fund to reclaim damages.   He said that Trans Nagaland Highway, Foothill Road from Tizit to Khelma is being pursued vigorously.   The government is also pursuing with Government of India for Chiethu Green field airport at Kohima, he said. He also mentioned on City buses launched in Dimapur along with Pink Buses.   50% Post Matric Scholarship released The CM said 50% of post matric scholarship has been released from state resources even without getting of funds from Government of India and Students Insurance Scheme have been introduced to cover unfortunate fatalities.   For SSA & RMSA teachers, he said that scale pay has been approved even though funding for the same has been restricted to fixed amounts by Government of India.   He also announced that Under Rural Development, the government have started the process of releasing the grant-in-aid to the VDBs who had not received their due grant in aid for 2014-15. 2015-16 and 2017-18. In addition, tractors are being distributed to all 60 constituencies and selected VDBs since July 30, 2018, Rio said. Clean & Green Nagaland Rio said the Rural Nagaland was declared Open Defecation Free on October 2 last this year ahead of the national target.   “Our landmark initiatives include protection of the rare Tragopan, we have become the Amul Falcon capital of the world and protection of butterflies has been initiated in Zunheboto district," he added. Water supply He said the state government have signed tripartite agreement with Poilwa and Khonoma Village Councils which will enable use of water from Teupiuki/Dzupfu for augmentation of water supply to Kohima town.   Youth Resources & Sports He said the Dimapur hosted the first ever Ranji Trophy Match for Nagaland and Nagaland cricket team made a record by winning their first ever match.   “We are observing Dr. T Ao Centenary Year and work on Dr T Ao Football Academy at Dimapur is being initiated,” Rio said.
