NTA honours Taekwondo fighter Heutingyi

DIMAPUR, MAY 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) on Tuesday felicitated Heutingyi, who represented India at World Junior Taekwondo Championship, which was held from April 9 to 13 at Hammamet, Tunisia.   Speaking at the felicitation program, NTA President and Northeast Taekwondo Union Chairman Pele Khezhie congratulated Heutingyi for taking part in the world championship and advised that he should carry forward with his sporting activities, adding he just began his career.  

Expressing happiness that at a young age “Heutingyi” could represent the country, Khezhie hoped that “he” should continue to maintain good discipline and aimed to bring a medal to the country in the near future.  

Sharing his experience, Heutingyi said that in the first round he defeated Egyptian player with 20 points gap in first round and lost to Italian player with 8 points in second round.  

153 Countries took part in the world championship, with India winning a bronze medal.  

Heutingyi is a product of IG Stadium Taekwondo Academy, Kohima, also played various state and national Championship under the aegis of Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA).  

NTA General Secretary Lhouliebeio Khezhie thanked the NTA President Pele Khezhie for helping Heutingyi and also to well wishers who help him to take part in the world championship.
