Piano workshop and masterclass sessions at RCEMPA underway

A two-day long piano workshop and masterclass sessions got underway at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA) Jotsoma, near Kohima on January 16. 

This workshop is sponsored by Italian Embassy Culture Centre, New Delhi with Sudipto Dawn – founder, Cultural Monks as facilitator in partnership with Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) Nagaland and Nagaland Piano Teachers Association (NPTA).
40 participants registered for this workshop, which will continue till January 17.

Addressing the introductory session, TaFMA advisor Theja Meru thanked Nagaland’s chief minister Neiphiu Rio for making this workshop possible.

He thanked Italian Embassy Culture Centre, New Delhi and Sudipto Dawn for providing such platform to Naga pianists also NPTA for working hard to make the workshop a meaningful one.

Stating that resource person Gloria Campaner, came all the way from Italy to share her vast experiences, he told the Naga pianists to learn as much as possible.

Stating that TaFMA want to continue the partnership with Italian Embassy Culture Centre, Meru said that starting with this, more event is on the pipeline this year.

He was optimistic that the Naga pianists will get maximum benefit and the workshop will open larger scale and more feasible platform to the artists, particularly the pianists of Nagaland, who are extremely doing well.

TaFMA project director Dr. Hovithal Sothu said “we are here for a specific purpose to carry our mission to greater heights.”
Dr. Sothu said that Campaner came all the way from Italy to assist Naga pianists, musicians and artists to greater heights.
Campaner expressed her delight and honour on visiting Nagaland for the first time.

Campaner informed that she had a wonderful trip to Khonoma village yesterday, adding that it will remain in her heart forever.

Campaner assured to share her experiences with the Naga pianists as much as she can, which she learnt in her life.

During the workshop, Campaner said that she will go deep into what piano music is all about.

Thanking the presence of Gloria Campaner for the workshop, NPTA president Khyochano TCK said that the later does unique and teaching module of piano through See Sharp, designed by her (Campaner) for creativity workshop for musicians and performing artists.

The workshop is going to be interesting and helpful to all of us, she said.

Khyochano said that NPTA desire to take pianists to greater platform and take them to other parts of India as well as other parts of the world.

Later, talking to media persons, Khyochano said that Nagaland is also the home of Brillante! The Nagaland Piano Festival which is a one of a kind in the nation to uplift and empower the piano community.

“This has flown to a pan India movement fostering the performance, Pedagogy and celebration of piano music through competition and concerts as well,” she added.
