TaFMA announces more art camps with national and international artists

A four-day long 1st Art Camp as part of Gallery of Contemporary Art (GoCA) initiative, concluded here today Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA) Jotsoma under the aegis of Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA).


Themed as “Naga,” ten artists joined the camp, which started on October 7.


Addressing the valedictory function, TaFMA project director Dr. Hovithal Sothu appreciated the local artists for displaying strength and "will power" to do things in a bigger way.


He maintained that everything is possible when there is will power.


Dr. Sothu said that more art camps are in the pipeline. National and international artists will also be invited in the future events.


He announced that the creations of 10 artists will be officially launched by mid-October.


Highlighting good qualities of an artist, he reminded them to follow the eight principles of being punctual, courteous, versatile, honest, curious, be quick, be a good listener and communicator, be professional and a perfectionist and maintain cleanliness.


Also acknowledging TaFMA advisor Theja Meru for bringing these talents under one roof and building them together, Dr.Sothu hoped that the "infant stage of art" will grow to higher stages.


 
Artists share delightover art camp


"I as an artist tents to speak to the world through every little sketches, the intricacies of God, as painting been an unspoken gift received undeserved" said artist Mhayani Kikon.


"I thank TaFMA for the platform created for every art lovers to display their master skills and not only that but for making us feel so special", she added.


She said art is an expression of feelings and emotions scribbled on the canvas of life which remains pristine entirely. Every pigments an artist displayed on every speaks unfathomable expressions and thoughts, she said.


“Five years of travelling as a freelance artist not only shaped me as a person but also to delve in to the creations of God and awe myself and every event makes me feel more deeply in love with the creative skills of every individuals which always makes me feel humble, Kikon said adding that her journey so far has been full of colorful blooms.


Cythia Kolakhe thanked TaFMA  for promoting the local artists and enabling them to express their thoughts.


Akup Buchem shared his experience saying that with the 'rich culture and history' of the Nagas, there is so much more to learn from the grassroot level rather than going to international levels.


It was also the first time for artist Vikuolelie Keditsu who shared that he has "no regret" of joining the art camp as he is returning home with "a lot of memories and experiences".


Lemsentong also shared his experience during the camp.


Earlier, the function was chaired by Marcus Geisuo while vote of thanks was proposed by Adu Keditsu.
