Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Gaonburas Federation (NGBF) has strongly condemned the improvised explosive device (IED) attack at Khopanullah, Chümoukedima ‘A’, on July 13, which killed one Assam Rifles personnel and injured four others.
Terming the incident a “senseless act,” the NGBF said it deserved the strongest condemnation from every peace-loving citizen. “At a time when the people of Nagaland are earnestly yearning for lasting peace and an honourable solution to the protracted Naga political issue, such cowardly acts aimed at destabilizing the prevailing atmosphere are unacceptable and must be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,” it stated.
The NGBF appealed to citizens to remain calm, exercise restraint and respond to the situation with maturity and wisdom. It urged the public not to allow those behind the attack to disrupt peace and harmony in society.
The Federation also urged the Nagaland Government and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice without delay.
It further appealed to all Naga political groups to extend full cooperation to the investigating agencies in the interest of justice and lasting peace.
The NGBF conveyed condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased soldier and wished the injured personnel a speedy and complete recovery.
