Tahamzam, September 3 (MExN): The 10th Conference: Cultural Exchange cum Exhibition of the Naga Women Union (NWU) will be held from September 16 to 18 at Purul Village in Senapati District under the theme: “Equality for women is progress for all”.
NWU is celebrating the 10th Conference so as to bring together women leaders of the 16 Naga tribes, besides other women leaders from tribes across the state of Manipur and neighbouring states, to forge the collective strength of women, a press release from the NWU informed. “Women’s participation in the decision making processes at all levels for a fair society is the need of the hour. Through creating spaces and empowering women will strengthen the community and society as a whole,” the NWU stated.
Rajya Sabha MP, Mary Kom, Nagaland Minister C.L. John, and North East Council Director Siile Anthony, will be the chief guests on the inaugural, the cultural and valedictory sessions respectively.
In this connection, the NWU has sought the cooperation of all organisations and appealed for restraint from calling any sorts of strikes or bandhs during the said period.
