112 new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland

Nagaland’s COVID-19 tally increased to 7604 after 112 more cases were confirmed on October 16. This was out of 744 samples tested. Dimapur reported 64, Kohima- 21, Mokokchung- 20, Mon- 3, Tuensang- 2, Longleng and Peren- 1 each.  

Majority of the cases confirmed today were traced contacts at 70 of the day’s total. The 20 cases from Mokokchung, 3 from Mon and 1 from Peren were all traced contacts. The cases reported from Dimapur today included 31 armed forces/security personnel, 28 traced contacts, 4 returnees and 1 frontline worker. 18 of the cases in Kohima were traced contacts, 2 returnees and 1 from the armed forces. The sole case from Longleng was a returnee and Tuensang’s 2 cases were frontline workers. 

The state also reported 91 recoveries— Dimapur- 62, Kohima- 21, Mon- 8. The number of active cases stood at 1466, as on 3:00pm, October 16, out which 56 were symptomatic. 41 of them were described as mild, 10- moderate (on oxygen) and 5- critical on ventilator/oxygen in ICU. 

All of the symptomatic cases were from Dimapur and Kohima. Dimapur had 41, including 2 in ICU and Kohima- 15, including 3 in ICU. The number of fatalities stood at 22, of which 5 were described as “not COVID related. Five more deaths were under review to ascertain cause.
