Students urged to stay alert to evolving education landscape & professions

AWO, ASU felicitate toppers

With various options available today, an administrative officer in Nagaland reminded students to stay alert and be aware of evolving educational platforms and professions in the market.

Providing insights into job prospects for students pursuing different academic streams, Kevingoto Kulnu, Revenue Officer of Kohima, highlighted that the stream-wise distribution and employability rates in India. A total of  33% of students pursue the Arts stream, with an employability rate of 47%; 13% pursue the Commerce stream, with an employability rate of 48%, while 11% pursue the Engineering and Technology streams, with an employability rate of 69%, he informed.  

Addressing a felicitation programme for toppers of the HSLC and HSSLC exams, he noted that the prospect of employability does not correspond with students pursuing a particular stream. 

There are employability prospects in all streams and "No stream is too good or too bad,” he added.

Kulnu also shared options available in new unconventional courses such as content creation courses. Whichever stream students opt for, make clear concerted efforts and remain focused, he added.

Meanwhile, AWO President Neithono R Sothu expressed pride in the achievements of the students, stating, "It's a pride that our children have succeeded in their exams. In this competitive world, it is encouraging to see that we are coming at par with others." 

With 16 girl toppers among the 18, she maintained that women are indeed progressing in all fields while pointing out, "As women are progressing, our community is also progressing." 

Sothu further emphasised the significance of education in shaping the future of the community, stating that "today's success and good deeds are the foundation of tomorrow."

Jalesoü Yhoshü, in her speech, stressed the crucial need to wisely choose one's career, stating: "Choose what you love to do.”
She also advised students to always remain humble in life wherever they are placed and never let the success of pride be their downfall. 

Speaking on behalf of the toppers, Ketsino Jane Frances acknowledged AWO and ASU for organising the programme in their honor.

Stating that this success is the beginning of another milestone, she requested the elders to continue to pray, guide, and support them. The felicitation programme was jointly organised by the Angami Women Organisation (AWO) and the Angami Students' Union (ASU) at the AWO ki in Kohima. 

Altogether, 18 toppers of HSLC and HSSLC were felicitated with certificates and cash awards. Fr Megoriekho Thomas, Assistant Priest at the Cathedral, invoked God's blessing upon the students as they embark on the journey of pursuing excellence in different paths.
