Discusses revamping Kohima Sahitya Sabha
Kohima, July 26 (MExN): A delegation from Kamrup Mahanagar Zila Sahitya Sabha, Assam led by its president Prafulla Barman visited Nagaland on July 25.
During their visit, the delegation toured the Nagaland State Museum, Naga Heritage Village Kisama and Kohima Cathedral.
A joint interaction meeting, held at Kohima Sahitya Sabha, witnessed
exchange of ideas between members of Kohima Sahitya Sabha and the visiting delegation.
Medokul Sophie, Ex-MLA, Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director, Art & Culture, Nagaland, Bhupendra Ch. Sharma, Retd. Chief Engineer, PWD, Assam, Chabin Rajkhowa, Retd. Deputy Director, Cultural Affairs, Assam and Dr. Khayam Uddin Ahmed, Advocate, Guwahati High Court delivered speeches and highlighted the importance of inter-state cultural unity.
The programme also featured cultural presentations from both Nagaland and Assam, showcasing the rich traditions of both states.
The main objective of the visit was to work towards the revamping of Kohima Sahitya Sabha and to forge a long-term cultural and literary partnership between Nagaland and Assam.
The proposed collaboration will be dedicated in the name of Bharat Ratna Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Late Kumbha Angami, father of Late Z. Obed, former Chief Secretary and former minister, Nagaland.
Earlier, the team was received by Adela Moa, Director, Art & Culture at Hotel De Oriental Grand, Kohima.
Meanwhile, the delegation expressed deep appreciation to the Government of Nagaland, particularly to Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for extending hospitality, Art & Culture Department and home department, Nagaland for facilitating the visit.
The Art & Culture Department looks forward to strengthening people-to-people connect through literature, art and culture between the two neighboring states.
