Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite conducted its 'one district one activity' initiative on July 25, focusing on environmental conservation and sustainable living through tree plantation and plastic-free advocacy.
The club distributed 10 branded flower pots with saplings, each carrying a message to inspire nature care. Three gynecologists from NIKOS Hospital – Dr Sunil Sharma, Dr Apeli Sukhalu, and Dr Benjongsangba Lemtur , received saplings to pass on to their patients, encouraging families to nurture life and nature.
In symbolic gestures, a two-month-old infant and a newly married couple were presented saplings, representing growth alongside the plant and a shared greener future, respectively. An additional 200 saplings were distributed in the New Market area.
Members also conducted a 'Say No to Plastic – Use Cloth Bags' campaign, distributing branded cloth bags to discourage single-use plastics.
The programme was led by Club President Lion Ritika Jain, with support from Secretary Lion Sakshi Binaykia and Project Chairperson Lion Priti Jain.
