119 new cases added to Nagaland COVID-19 tally

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN):  Nagaland on Wednesday reported 119 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the coronavirus tally in the state to 8,139, an official said.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom announced on Twitter that 119 new COVID-19 cases were detected during the day while 93 patients recovered from the disease. 

“119 +ve cases of #COVID-19 detected today. Dimapur- 90, Kohima- 20, Mon- 5, Peren- 4. Also, 93 +ve patients have recovered. Kohima- 66, Dimapur- 26, Phek- 1,” the minister tweeted.

“Wear Mask, Keep Distance, Stay Safe,” he added.

Nagaland now has 1,682 active COVID-19 cases, while 6,360 people have recovered from the disease, the health department’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme reported in its daily bulletin.

As per the severity of symptoms, 1,596 active cases are asymptomatic, 64 active cases are mild, 16 active cases are moderate on oxygen, 3 active cases are severe on oxygen and 3 active cases are on ventilator.

The state has also registered 22 COVID-19 fatalities, six ‘not COVID related’ deaths and one death under investigation by the state death review committee. Altogether 68 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states.

Dimapur has the highest number of active cases at 1,213.

Of the total COVID-19 cases in the state 3,613 are armed personnel/security personnel, 1,617 returnees/travellers, 2,512 traced contacts and 397 frontline workers.

Testing wise, the health department informed through the DIPR that a total of 58,444 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 57,441 samples have been received. In addition, a total 32,148 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat and results of 32,102 samples have been received, while 3,346 samples have been tested through Rapid Antigen Test.
