Dimapur, October 13 (MExN): The 11th All Sumi Open Chess Championship 2024 wrapped up today at the Tourist Lodge in Dimapur, showcasing remarkable talent across various age categories. 

In the Open Category, Akaho Achumi emerged victorious, followed by Kughaho Tsughu Kiho in second place and Itkohu Achumi in third. Toivi Yeptho, Vizheto V Shohe, Toikhu Awomi, Sukhavi Achumi, Kitolu Achumi, Bovito, and Hoka Awomi rounded out the top ten players in this category.

In the Under-18 years category, Pulonito Hesso Kinimi claimed first place, with Kunvuto Awomi and Intovi Awomi finishing in second and third, respectively. Jesse Chishi also performed well, contributing to the competitive spirit of this age group.

The Under-14 years category saw Nitokav Aye take the top spot, followed by Anuka Chishi and Tunato Awomi. Izuto G Achumi and Thomipi K Assumi also showcased their skills, adding to the depth of talent in this age division.

The tournament also recognized exceptional talent with the Best Female Player prize awarded to Miss Shenikali Hesso Kinimi. This acknowledgment highlights the growing participation and success of female players in the chess community.

Mughaho Awomi, an International Arbiter, served as the Chief Arbiter for the championship, ensuring fair play and adherence to the rules. His expertise contributed to the smooth conduct of the tournament.

The Sumi Chess Association Nagaland organized this year’s championship.
