Greenwood HSS beat King David HSS 2-0 to lift Pre-Subroto crown

Greenwood Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, won the State-level Pre-Subroto U-17 Boys’ Football Tournament after defeating King David Higher Secondary School, Medziphema, 2-0 in the final at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima on July 23.

Zhouviku Lam gave Greenwood HSS the lead in the 36th minute to put his team 1-0 ahead at half-time before Lidikhum N Sangtam sealed the victory with a second goal in the 69th minute.

MLA and Nagaland Football Association (NFA) General Secretary Benei M Lamthiu presented the trophy and medals to the champions and runners-up in the presence of Jakedovo Chase, Joint Director of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, OSD (Sports) Roko Angami and other department officials.

The tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association.

With the victory, Greenwood HSS qualified to represent Nagaland in the U-17 boys’ category at the 65th Subroto Mukherjee International Football Tournament, to be held in New Delhi from August 18 to September 25.

Earlier, PM Shri Government High School, Meriema, Kohima, which won the State-level Pre-Subroto U-17 Girls’ Football Tournament, also qualified to represent Nagaland in the U-17 girls’ category at the same tournament.
