Nagaland’s Power & Parliamentary Affairs minister KG Kenye today revealed that the total revenue collected by the Power Department for Financial Year 2025-26 stands at Rs. 324.81 Cr and the revenue collected is deposited/remitted to State Government against Head of Account 8782-00-102-01-00 through Treasury Challan.
Kenye informed the 9th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in a starred question raised by MLA Naiba Konyak.
On being asked on the expected revenue to be collected by the department for the year 2026-27, the minister stated that the Department has also installed more than 57,300 smart meters under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and a total of 3,17,210 nos. of Smart Meter is targeted to be installed under RDSS within February 2027.
“With the successful implementation of this initiative, the Revenue collection for FY 2026-27 projected at Rs. 400 Cr. is expected to be achieved,” the minister stated.
In another question, the minister disclosed that a total of 2, 06, 803 households are consuming power in the districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Kohima, Mokokchung, Tuensang and Phek.
The total revenue collected stands at Rs. 146.70 core.
Regarding the rate levied on each household for power connectivity and the monthly charges, Kenye replied that on the aspect of Rate for Power Connectivity/New Service Connection, “ At present, the meters are provided free of cost to all categories of consumers under the ongoing Govt. of India's Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). However, the cost of variable items such as service cables and MCB/Kit-Kat Fuse are borne by the Consumers.”
On monthly charges for Domestic Consumers, he stated that the monthly energy charges are levied as per the Tariff rates approved by the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission as below:
