A three day long 11th Kohima Open Volleyball Tournament 2024 (Men & Women) under the aegis of Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) commenced today at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima under the theme “Transcending through Sports.”
12 Men teams and 5 Women teams registered for the tournament, which will conclude on November 1.
Addressing the opening ceremony as the special guest, Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, expressed happiness over the participants from Manipur and from different parts of Nagaland.
“Volleyball is a game which is in fact love by many, but probably, over the years, we have not been able to develop this game into that stage where it should be.” he said. He said that Club culture is something, which is very important for bringing in sustainability in any sports activity. He wanted to see that Nagaland Volleyball Association strengthens volleyball clubs across the state. He said that Super League System for even volleyball is possible in the state.
Neikeso Zumu, PA to Chief Minister of Nagaland was the match patron of the day. Earlier, KDVA president Visasielie Suhu delivered welcome address while KDVA technical secretary Mhalevilie Kere administered oath to the participating teams. The opening ceremony was led by Mhalelhou Mere and Kekhrieneikho Zhiinyii and Atsiko Kehie as compere. Sedekhriezo Whuorie, pastor, Christian Revival Church Bayavii invoked God’s blessings. Special number was presented by Thenuviu Kets.

Senapati Sporting Club defeated Küsoma Youth Society with a straight set 2-0.
Japfü Range Volleyball Club defeated Kiruphema Youth Organisation A with a straight set 2-0.
Senapati SC defeated Team Keziekie Kohima with a straight set 2-0.

Küsoma Y.S, Mima defeated Team Keziekie Kohima with a straight set of 2-0.
