126 fresh cases take Arunachal's COVID-19 tally to 10,548

Itanagar, October 5 (PTI): At least 126 more people, including six security personnel, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the northeastern state's tally to 10,548, a health department official said on Monday.

Of the fresh cases, 48 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 15 from Changlang, 10 from West Siang, seven each from Tawang, West Kameng and Lower Subansiri, six from Lepa Rada and five each from Upper Siang and Papumpare districts.

Four new cases were also detected in Tirap, three each in East Siang and Lower Siang, two each in Kurung Kumey and Lohit and one each in Longding and Lower Dibang Valley, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

"An Army man, two Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel and three state police staffers are among the new patients," he said.

Barring 15, all the new patients are asymptomatic and have been shifted to COVID Care Centres, the official said.

At least 190 people were cured of the disease and discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,577, he said.

Currently, the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients in the state is at 71.83 per cent, Jampa said. Arunachal Pradesh now has 2,953 active coronavirus cases, while 18 people succumbed to the disease.

The Capital Complex region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 1,549, followed by West Siang (193), Papumpare (189), Changlang (143) and Upper Subansiri (106), he said.

A total of 2,57,972 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 1,821 on Sunday, Jampa added.
