DIMAPUR, AUGUST 23 (MExN): The North East Association of Goa along with the help of Goa police have rescued 14 Nagas from the iron ore mines of God, informed sources stated. The NE Association of Goa was reportedly approached by a Naga gentleman asking for help to rescue his brother who had been lured by some agents to go to Goa with promise of a good job in a hotel on a beach.
When the NE Association investigated into the matter it was discovered that 14 of these young men from Nagaland all in the age group of 19 to 24 had been confined to tents and portacabins with no amenities whatsoever. With the help of the Goa police they were rescued. It was also revealed that the team also rescued two Assamese. One of the Nagas and the two Assamese decided to stay back and the North East Association has helped them get jobs.
Sources disclosed that the 14 will be arriving day after tomorrow to Guwahati and then to Dimapur. It was suggested that the Nagaland Police should come to Goa and arrest the agents who are involved in the trafficking. “This should be taken seriously and if the Nagaland Police comes we can help this side”, sources from the NE Association informed.
