Tseminyu, March 25 (MExN): World TB Day was observed at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall in Tseminyu district on March 25.
The programme was organised by the National TB Elimination Programme under the theme “Yes, We Can End TB: Led by Bharat, Powered by Janbhagidari”.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the TB Forum, Tseminyu, Japheth Woch, NCS, acknowledged and appreciated achievers in different categories, including silver and bronze, and encouraged them to strive for higher accomplishments. He also emphasised the importance of discipline in the early treatment process and urged citizens to undergo timely testing.
District TB Officer, Kohima, Dr Chibenthung Kithan, highlighted the significance of the day, stating that World TB Day serves as a call to action for the global community to unite against tuberculosis. He stressed the need to strengthen collective efforts to combat the disease through education, awareness, early detection and improved access to treatment.
The event also marked the launch of the 100 Days TB Mukt Bharat campaign by the Deputy Commissioner, reinforcing the collective commitment to eliminate tuberculosis through awareness and community participation.
During the programme, 14 villages were felicitated for their achievements, including five villages in the silver category and nine in the bronze category.
The programme was chaired by Medical Officer, PHC Chunlikha, Dr Cheyale Kath, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
