Changtongya Volleyball Association A beats Sakutemjen Memorial Club, Chungtiayimsen to take the title
MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 20 (MExN): Changtongya Volleyball Association A trounced defending champion Sakutemjen Memorial Club, Chungtiayimsen to lift the trophy of the 14th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy (IMMNOVT) which concluded today.
Changtongya Volleyball Association A beat defending champion Sakutemjen Memorial Club, Chungtiayimsen 25-22, 25-16, 26-24 at the finals which was held at Multi-purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung. The trophy was organized by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association.
Moatemjen of Sakutemjen Memorial Club, Chungtiayimsen won the Player of the tournament while Bendangtemsu of Changtongya Volleyball Association A won the Best Spiker and Sarilepzüng also of Changtongya Volleyball Association A won the Best Setter award.
The 3rd and 4th place went to Sukumoshi Club, Dimapur and Path Finders, DEF Mokokchung respectively.
The closing function of the tournament was graced by Er. Limadongdang Jamir, Engineer-in- Chief, NPWD as the chief patron. In a short speech, Jamir congratulated the MDVA for their effort in successfully organizing the trophy.
He felt that the trophy was a positive platform for young players to compete with other teams and to bring out the best while ironing out their flaws. He also recalled that Late. Imchaba was among the first volleyball player and encouraged the game among the Nagas during the late 20’s.
