Mon and Dimapur district today emerged the champion title of Sepaktakraw Tournament 2024 in boys and girls category respectively.
This tournament is part of the 16th edition of State Level Catch Them Young (U-14) organised by Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland.
Dimapur and Mokokchung district stood second and third position respectively in boy’s category. Kohima and Wokha district bagged second and third position respectively in girl’s category.
Kesonyii Yhome, Commissioner & Secretary to Chief Minister of Nagaland and Anthony Ngullie, secretary youth resources & sports gave away prizes to the winners of girls and boys category respectively at the closing function held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
In his address, Yhome expressed happiness over the positive growth in sports in Nagaland in the recent years and bringing laurel to the state. He lauded the state Sepaktakraw players for bringing numerous medals at the national and international level.
Yhome also told the players to maintain discipline both on and off the court “if you really want to take sports as a career.”
Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports Director Kethosituo Sekhose maintained that Sepaktakraw has got a bright future as far as the state of Nagaland is concerned We are physically suited to be in this game of Sepaktakraw, he said. The way you exhibited your talent in this state level tournament goes to show that you have inborn ability to play this game, Sekhose told the players.
