
Kohima, February 6 (MExN): Under the aegis of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) 1st Chakhesang Open Wrestling 2019 is all se to be held on February 8 at Pfutsero Sports’ Complex, Phek District, with Neiba Kronu, Minister for Planning & Coordination and Land Revenue, Government of Nagaland as the special guest.
According to a press release issued by CWA General Secretary, Kuveo Cukhamu, the Nagaland Referee Board was assigned with the task of referees and panel of judges.
During the inaugural ceremony, CWA Vice President, Vezholhu Khesoh will led the ceremony, Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute (CCRI) will present special indigenous tune, CWA Technical Secretary, Huvesu Puro will administer oath to the wrestlers followed by the Open wrestling competition.
Altogether 63 wrestlers from Chakhesang, Angami have registered to vie for the coveted fist ever ultimate title.
The champion shall walked away with a cash prize of Rs.1,20,000/- along with citation, the first runner up will also awarded a sum of Rs. 80,000/-, the second runner will also pocketed a sum of Rs.40,000/- sponsored by the ADC & Staffs, Pfutsero and the third runner up shall also walked home with a sum of 20,000/- sponsored by the Traders’ Union Pfutsero Town. The losing pre-quarter finalists shall also rewarded a sum of Rs. 3,000/- each while the losing quarter finalists shall also pocketed a sum of Rs. 6,000/- each.
NWA rules and regulations shall govern the entire proceedings of the wrestling competition. A sum of Rs. 300/- shall be realised from each participant as an entry fee. Accommodation shall be provided to the non-Chakhesang wrestlers.
The CWA appeals all wrestling lovers to be part of the indigenous mega event and join the community traditional festival with the Chakhesangs.
