Dimapur, May 30 (MExN): A drip irrigation project titled ‘Per Drop More Crop’ under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is nearing completion, according to a DPRO report.

In the first phase, Dimapur district has installed more than 200 units at different fruit and vegetable farms covering several villages.

Speaking about the project, Mohindor from North Bengal Irrigation who is also the technician/ in charge for installation of Per Drop More Crop Scheme for Nagaland, said that he has surveyed the entire districts of Nagaland for the said project.

He informed that project work under Dimapur district was nearing completion under the initiative of District Horticulture officer (DHO) Dimapur Temsu Longkumer. The second phase will be carried out in Kohima district, he added.

Mohindor observed that normal watering by cane loosens the roots, while in the drip irrigation project, water falls drop by drop making the fruits and vegetables healthy and also enhances water use efficiency.

Mention may be made that PMKSY was launched on July 1, 2015 with the objective to achieve convergence of investments in irrigation sector at field level. The scheme aims at providing end to end solutions in irrigation supply chain.
