Tseminyu, October 16 (MExN): The first-ever Chess coaching camp-cum-1st Tseminyu District Chess Championship 2022 was held from October 12-15 at Baptist Higher Secondary School (BHSC) Tseminyu.
Altogether 185 individuals attended the coaching camp 12-14 held at BHSS, making the camp with highest number of participants ever in Nagaland, a press release informed.
The championship also witnessed highest participants ever a chess tournament in Nagaland with 134 players competing at the event organised by the Youth Resources and Sports Department, Nagaland in collaboration with Nagaland Chess Association (NCA).
In the Open category, Mohokiya Apon emerged as the Champions beating Haichu Kath in the final.
Sozin Rasu was the winner of Under-18 Years category, while Akenye Kent stood second.
The winner received Trophies, certificates and chess sets
All participants reaching top 15 positions were given chess sets and certificates, informed the press release the NCA Honorary Secretary, Mughaho Awomi.
All the participants of coaching as well as the tournament were awarded certificates.
Meanwhile, the release further informed that the NCA has launched the Tseminyu District Chess Association headed by Mohokiya Apon as President and Benkiya Apon as Secretary.
The NCA also distributed 10 chess sets each to the newly formed district unit as well as BHSS, Tseminyu.
