Maligaon, July 28 (MExN): Train services on the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section have been affected following settlement of railway tracks on Line-1 and Line-2 near New Harangajao station, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said on Tuesday.
All train movements through the affected section are currently being operated through Line-3 under strict monitoring and enhanced safety measures, it said.
In view of passenger safety, operation of passenger-carrying trains through the affected stretch has been suspended during night hours from 1900 hrs to 0500 hrs. During daytime, trains are being allowed to pass through the section under regulated conditions with continuous monitoring.
Several trains have been cancelled, rescheduled and regulated due to the disruption. Railway personnel, engineering teams and heavy machinery have been deployed to restore the affected track section on priority, NFR said.
Normal train operations are expected to resume after completion of restoration work and necessary safety clearance, it added.
The cancelled trains include Train No. 15617 Guwahati-Dullabcherra Express scheduled to commence journey on July 29, Train No. 15618 Dullabcherra-Guwahati Express on July 30, Train No. 15615 Guwahati-Silchar Express on July 29, and Train No. 15616 Silchar-Guwahati Express on July 29 and 30.
Among the rescheduled trains, Train No. 15650 Narangi-Agartala Express scheduled on July 29 will depart at 2230 hrs, while Train No. 15649 Agartala-Narangi Express will depart at 2330 hrs.
Train No. 15609 Guwahati-Sairang Express and Train No. 15611 Rangiya-Silchar Express scheduled on July 29 will also depart at 2330 hrs, while Train No. 15610 Sairang-Guwahati Express will depart at 2130 hrs.
Train No. 15612 Silchar-Rangiya Express scheduled on July 28 and 29 has been rescheduled to depart at 0500 hrs on July 29 and 30 respectively. Train No. 15646 Silchar-Charlapalli Express scheduled on July 29 will depart at 0410 hrs on July 30.
NFR extends Katihar-Amritsar special train service by five trips
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has extended the services of the 05736/05735 Katihar-Amritsar-Katihar Special Train by five additional trips in each direction to clear extra rush and cater to increased passenger demand.
The special train will continue to operate with its existing composition, timings, stoppages and maintenance schedule, providing connectivity between Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and other important stations en route, NFR said.
Train No. 05736 Katihar-Amritsar Special will depart from Katihar at 2100 hrs every Wednesday from August 5 to September 2, while Train No. 05735 Amritsar-Katihar Special will leave Amritsar at 1325 hrs every Friday from August 7 to September 4.
NFR said the extension of special train services would help ease congestion in regular trains and provide smoother and more comfortable travel for passengers.
