Kohima, August 13 (MExN): The Kohima Police have declared the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza and adjoining areas within a 2-km radius as a temporary “Red Zone” and “No Drone Zone” ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
The restriction will remain in force from 6 pm on August 14 to 6 pm on August 15, according to an order issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kohima, under the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Drone Rules, 2021.
During the period, the operation, launching, flying or use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)/drones within the notified area will be strictly prohibited, except where specifically authorised by the competent authority in accordance with 2021 Rules.
The order stated that unauthorised drone operations would invite immediate intervention and necessary legal action. Violation of Rules 22 and 27 is cognisable and non-compoundable under Rule 49 of the 2021 Rules, it added.
The restriction has been imposed to ensure the safety and security of dignitaries, participants and the public and to prevent possible threats, interference or security breaches arising from drone operations.
