
Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): The District Sessions Court in Zunheboto has sentenced two persons to 10 years each of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for offences punishable under Section 365 and 304 Part 1 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to a press release received on June 24, District & Sessions Judge, Zunheboto, Khesheli Chishi convicted the accused Puloka Awomi and Pikato Shohe for the death of Lunkholal Singson in March 2018, and also ordered for payment of Rs 2,00,000 to the wife of the deceased as compensation under the Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme, 2012. The judgment was pronounced on May 20.
The case pertains to the alleged abduction of Lunkholal Singson while traveling in a Zunheboto-Dimapur night super bus on March 17, 2018, by the accused and his subsequent death while in their custody.
As per the court order, the two were sentenced to undergo 7 years RI for offence under section 364, IPC and 10 years RI each for offence under section 304 Part 1 of the IPC. “The sentence so passed shall run concurrently,” it added.
