Karbi Anglong, December 15 (MExN): The Hill Tribes Protection Forum (HTPF) has called for a 24 hours Karbi Anglong total bandh with effect from 5:00am of December 17. The Forum informed today that this is in protest against the bestowing of Scheduled Tribe Hills status to the Bodos in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of Assam, a commitment given to the Bodos by the Government of India under Clause 8 of the 2003 Bodo Accord. It was also informed that NH 36 and NH 39 will be affected due to the bandh and travel precautions should be accordingly taken.
