24 villages under Wokha receive rubber roller set

Wokha, October 26 (DIPR): Department of Land Resource, Wokha felicitated 24 villages with rubber roller set at its District Project Office, Wokha on October 25.  

Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Wezope Kenye speaking as the special guest and felicitating the rubber farmers, said they did an incredible job and pointed out that they have not only become self-reliant, but also contributed to a better ecosystem. Encouraging the farmers to continue in the spirit of hard work, he urged the educated unemployed younger generation to learn from the farmers, and spread the message of self-dependence, and serve the society for peaceful coexistence.  

DC Kenye later issued order letter and rubber rollers to the 24 villages. He urged the farmers to make judicious use of the machinery, encouraging them to be an example to the rest of the state.  

District Project Officer, Department of Land Resources, Tepunol Yore delivering the introductory remark informed that the district has the highest rubber grower in the state, with more than twenty-eight lakhs standing trees registered with the department. He also said some individual grows more than five to six lakhs rubber trees, summing up to a total of more than thirty-four lakhs rubber trees standing in the district. He reiterated the department’s continuous assistance to the farmers with schemes and projects.
