27 students among fresh cases of COVID-19 in Mizoram

80 fresh cases of COVID-19 were detected in Mizoram in the past 24 hours taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 2607 on Wednesday.

According to the Health department, 27 school students, 11 army personnel and one Mizoram policeman are among the new cases recorded in the state.

The department said that, out of the 80 fresh cases of COVID-19, 76 cases were detected from Aizawl district, 2 from Lawngtlai district and one each from Khawzawl and Saitual districts.

The Health department said that 63 of the 80 fresh cases were locally transmitted and added that contact tracing is underway.

It also informed that one COVID-19 recovered person was affected with the disease again for the second time. The patient, a female from Aizawl, was discharged a few days ago from a COVID-19 Care Centre after being declared cured from the disease.

Meanwhile, 5 persons were discharged from various COVID-19 care centres on Wednesday after they recovered from the disease.

The Health department said there are 368 active cases of COVID-19 in the state while 2,238 people have already recovered from the virus.

The recovery rate of Mizoram is 85.85 per cent, according to the Health department. The state recorded its first COVID-19 death on Wednesday.
