Dimapur U-19 Boys, DGP Nagaland T John Longkumer and others at the prize distribution programme of the 2nd Late G Rio Memorial U-19 (Boys) Inter-District Tournament in Sovima on February 2. Dimapur defeated Wohka by 87 runs in the final.
Dimapur, February 2 (MExN): Dimapur successfully defended the 2nd Late G Rio Memorial U-19 (Boys) Inter-District Tournament trophy by defeating Wokha by 87 runs in the final on February 2.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Dimapur scored a commendable total of 211 runs for 6 in the allotted 50 overs, despite a shaky start by losing the first wicket in the 2nd over.
However, Mughavi Sumi (34 runs) and Wicket-Keeper & Captain Yugandhar Singh (49 runs) steadied the innings as they shared a 95-runs partnership, before the latter was run out by Randanbemo Odyuo. Sumi’s wicket was also taken shortly by John Shitiri.
However, Dimapur middle order their innings alive with quick knocks from Khrievitso Kense (32 runs not out) and Aloto Sumi (22 runs), taking the team to a respectable total.
For Wokha, Thechamo took 3 wickets.
In reply, Wokha had a poor start as they lost both of their openers cheaply. The middle order batsmen gave a semblance of fight but they were bowled out in 34.5 over with just 124 runs on the scoreboard.
Major run scorers for Wokha were Renjanthung (37 runs), Renben Kikon (27 runs) and Thechamo Odyuo (18 runs).
For Dimapur Neizekho Rupreo scalped 4 wickes while Kense and Poiring got 3 wickets each.
The prize distribution and closing programme was graced by T John Longkumer, IPS, Director General of Police, Nagaland.
