2nd phase of IPPI on March 10

Health dept informs on polio immunization

Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The State Programme officer, Universal Immunisation Programme, Dr M Kire informs that the 2nd phase for the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) for the year 2013 will be held on March 10, 2013. The campaign is targeted to capture over 2,46,000 children from 0 to 5 years. 

The polio drops will be administered by 9,848 vaccinators and 492 supervisors of the department of Health & Family Welfare. A total of 2,462 polio booths will be established in various districts all over the state. The officer also stated that more focus will be given on migrant population with an aim to prevent importation of polio cases. The department further appeals the general public, parents, community leaders, allied departments, various NGOs and local media to actively participate in this campaign to make this endeavour a success, so that “we can eradicate polio from our state and gift a polio free world to our children.”

Peren: District Health Society, Peren will be conducting 2nd round Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) for children between 0-5 years of age on March 10, followed by house to house visit on March 11 and 12. Therefore, all the public of Peren district are informed to avail the facility by bringing all the children between 0-5 years of age to the nearest Polio booth.

Dimapur: The second round of 'IPPI' in Dimapur will be held on March, 10. 507 booths have been set up all over Dimapur district for 53,167 children between the ages of 0-5 years with 100 supervisors. The District Chief Medical Officer requests all parents to bring their Children aged 0-5 years to nearest polio booth in their locality for Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) starting 8 am onward. The department also appeals to all concerned citizens to mobilize children to avail the Polio Drops

Kohima: The 2nd round of IPPI for all children aged 0 to 5 years in Kohima will be held on March 10 and followed by house to house on March 11 and 12. Therefore, the district Chief Medical Officer requests all parents, community leaders, women representative, youth representative and church leaders of all villages and colonies under Kohima district to mobilize children to avail volio vaccine at the nearest polio booth.
