Kohima, November 28 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have arrested three persons over the last one week for possession of illegal arms.
3 AR launched an operation based on specific intelligence along with police representative in Teenpatti Junction, Kohima on November 27 and apprehended two individuals in possession of 9mm pistol with magazine. The two were identified as Khlungmong Tikhir alias Among, 24 years, and Tsalise, 33 years. Earlier on November 25, the 9 AR along with police representative established a vehicle check post at High School Junction and Teenpati Junction, Kohima during which one Seyie Khrielie, 31, was apprehended along with a .22 Pistol and one magazine.
All three have been handed over to the North Police Station, Kohima along with the recovered items for further investigation.
In yet another operation on November 24, the 5 AR along with police representative recovered one .22 pistol and 9 live rounds from the house of one Khehoto Yeptho in Tokiye village under Zunheboto district. Recovered items were subsequently handed over to Aghunato Police station for further investigation.
Liquor worth Rs. 4 lacs seized
The 28 Assam Rifles on Tuesday recovered liquor worth Rs. 4 lakhs from a vehicle in Chukitong, Wokha. According to a defence release, the AR troops conducted a search at Van Stand, Chukitong and intercepted one Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration No NL01C 4142 and recovered 1742 bottles of Mc Dowell Rum and 456 cans of Beer Kingfisher. In this connection, two persons identified as Pukhavi Sema, 21, and Khekuto Sema, 20, were arrested and later handed over to Wokha Police Station for further investigation.
