Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): The PKR union, comprising the villages of Phenshunyu, Khenyu and Rumesinyu has imposed a total ban on hunting and fishing in any manner within the territorial land of the three villages, with immediate effect. The union held an emergency meeting at Phenshunyu village and adopted several decisions. The ban on hunting will come into immediate effect and will remain until further notice. Neighboring villages are informed to take note of this decision. A note from Benjamin Lorin, informed that the union also constituted a PKR development committee under the leadership of industries director G Keppen Rengma. The committee comprises of VCCs, VDB secretaries from all the three villages along with “outsiders president unit president” and senior officers, it informed. The meeting also reiterated its earlier decision declaring PKR land as ‘organic zone.’ Accordingly, use of any chemical fertilizer for agricultural and farming purposes has been banned in totality.
