Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): 30 new councilors took the oath during the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) new councilors’ installation programme at Naga Council Conference hall on August 22.
According to a press release from the NCD, K Ghokheto Chophy was selected as the new NCD president while Etsungmomo Kikon and G K Rengma were named as the Vice Presidents and Thsapongkyu Sangtam was selected as the General Secretary.
Search/Selection Commission report was announced by T L Merry, Chairman of Selection Commission for Naga Council New office bearers 2020-2025 tenure.
The welcome address was delivered by outgoing NCD President T Bangerloba, while K Ghokheto Chophy expressed gratitude to the outgoing president for being a role model and an inspiration.
He lauded Bangerloba’s efforts during the 5 years as president and also encouraged new councilors to carry out the unfinished task for the interest of Naga Council and Dimapur in general.
It may be mentioned that on August 13, the court of the Civil Judge (Senior Division) Dimapur had set aside the July 9 injunction order, restraining former office bearers of the NCD from “selecting/electing/nominating any office bearer till the next returnable date.”
The installation programme was chaired by Eliho Angami, Vice-President and invocation was pronounced by Yanbemo Lotha, Associate Pastor Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur who also prayed for new team of office bearers and councilors.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Thsapongkyu Sangtam, and the programme concluded with prayer by Sungsabeni Jamio, President NWHD.
The NCD Office Bearers for the 2020-2025 tenure includes: K Ghokheto Chophy-President, Etsungmomo Kikon-Vice-President (Adm), G K Rengma-Vice-president (Council Bench), Thsapongkyu Sangtam-General Secretary, Ponghok Phom- Joint Secretary, Gangang-Pou-Joint secretary, M Sapong Chang-Finance Secretary, and Luola-O Usou-Treasurer.
