• SP XI rout Tüjünu United in record win
Tuensang, November 6 (MExN): The 33rd Loyem Memorial Trophy (LMT) in Tuensang Town saw a day of dominant performances on Thursday as Khiamniungan Sports Council (KSC) defeated Yungyangkhu FC 4-0 in Group A, while SP XI registered a record-breaking 11-0 win over Tüjünu United FC in Group B.
The day began under clear skies, a change from Wednesday’s rain and fog.
Khiamniungan Sports Council 4-0 Yungyangkhu FC (Group A)
Khiamniungan Sports Council, who had shown promise earlier in the tournament but struggled with finishing, produced a complete performance. Benjamin opened the scoring in the 18th minute after a move down the right. Four minutes later, Pele doubled the lead with a composed strike.
Yungyangkhu, coming off a 4-2 defeat to Shanen FC, struggled to respond as KSC controlled possession and tempo. Lamsong added a third in the 29th minute after capitalising on a loose ball in the box.
Yungyangkhu tried to regroup after halftime but could not break through KSC’s organised defence led by their captain. Substitute Mharhomo Ngullie sealed the win in the 72nd minute with a curling effort from the edge of the area.
The result leaves Yungyangkhu FC with one point from three matches, while KSC stay in the running for a semi-final spot.
SP XI 11-0 Tüjünu United FC (Group B)
In the day’s second match, SP XI produced one of the most dominant displays in LMT history. Hanglen opened the scoring in the first minute and added another in the 34th, but it was Limakumzuk Ao who stole the show with eight goals.
Limakumzuk found the net in the 12th, 48th, 52nd, 56th, 61st, 62nd, 72nd and 74th minutes, displaying remarkable pace and accuracy. Yhoto Lohe added the 11th goal in the 49th minute.
Despite the one-sided scoreline, Tüjünu United continued to play with discipline and avoided rough play. The result strengthens SP XI’s position as the team to beat in Group B, alongside Shanen FC from Group A.
