Chief guest Howoto Jakhalu unfurling AASA flag at the inaugural function of 34th annual session of Ato Area Sports Association at Toshiho Village on Monday.

 

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 11 (MExN): The 34th annual session of Ato Area Sports Association (AASA) commenced this morning at Toshiho Village with 'unity through sports' as its theme. 


Howoto Jakhalu, Class-I Contractor, who graced the inaugural function as the chief guest, unfurled the association flag and declared open the 34th GB's Football Trophy, 31st Lt. Nikhekhu & Lt. N.Yihoto Zhimo Memorial Men & Women Volley Ball Trophy and 6th Lt. Shekuto Süü Memorial Men & Women Badminton Trophy. 


He lauded the AASA officials both past and present for their effort for having being able to hold such an event that promote not only the talented youngsters of Ato area but also togetherness among the people. 


Highlighting the success and achievements of women boxing icon Mary Kom and how she rose from nothing to international fame, Howoto was of the view why can't Nagas attain fame and glory in the field of sports like the boxing star of Manipur as Nagas are second to none and there is no dearth of talent among the Nagas. 


Rev. Luhevi, Pastor of Nihokhu Baptist Church said the inaugural prayer for the event.  Head GB of the host village, Hovito Zhimo welcomed the dignitaries and participating teams to the event. 


Avikali G. Shohe, Associate Pastor (Children), Nikhekhu Baptist Church and Hupeka, Associate Pastor (Youth), Hozukhe Baptist Church conducted the inaugural function.
