36th PDSA meet to see Naga style wrestling category

The Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) is all set to conduct its 36th meet cum 1st Naga style category wrestling from March 23 to 27 at Thenyizu village. It will be hosted by the Chokri Area Games & Sports Association.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton will be the special guest while Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu will be the guest of honour.

PDSA president Nezosa Tetseo informed that the first Naga-style category Wrestling (Men) would be introduced for the first time in PDSA meet under 65 kg; below 74 kg and 86 kg.

Besides football, basketball and volleyball both for men and women, the meet will also feature track events both for men and women - 100 metre dash; 200 metre sprint; 400 metre race; 800 metre race; 1500 metre race and 4x200 metre race and field events are Discuss throw; Javelin Throw; Shot put; Long Jump and High Jump.

Meanwhile, PDSA informed that there will be a business hour on March 22 at 4:00 PM.

The tournament patrons include Neposo Theluo, Commissioner & Secretary Rural Development; Wezope Kenye, Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Kevichüsa Medikhru, Principal Director Health & Family Welfare; and Razouvolie Dozo, Deputy Commissioner, Phek.

Other sponsors and donors include: track suit- Zhothisa Dawhuo, Director State Lotteries, Printing and Stationery; Kudecho Khamo, Chairman EDA; medals- Veyielo Doulo, Deputy Director Tourism, walkie talkie- Er. Vekurhu Venyo, EE RD and footballs by late Vedai Nienu’s family.

Hukhonieyi Soho will assist the athletic events as chief referee. Colo Mero will do the same for football, Tsibu Khesoh  for volleyball, Surhoneyi Soho for basketball and Vekhriyi Chuzho for wrestling.
