3rd CNCCI Executive Council meet begins

The 3rd Executive Council Meet of the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI) began at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on April 20 with Assam Chamber of Commerce (ACC) as the special invitee.

Addressing the meet, Secretary General of ACC, Sisir Dev Kalita urged upon CNCCI to initiate coming together of the business communities of the northeast region to chalk out common interests. “We can form a coordination committee and build partnerships to enhance the working system,” he added.

He said the pandemic has severely affected every sphere of work and that entrepreneurship is emerging as a strong alternative for livelihood. He said the pandemic has given rise to innovative entrepreneurship leading to seeing business in a new way.

Delivering the presidential address, CNCCI Chairman, Dr Khekugha Muru pointed out how the trade and commerce between Nagaland and Assam has been practiced since times immemorial and the bond becoming stronger. However, Khekugha said business communities of the two states have never met on official capacity to discuss common issues and hoped that their meeting would usher progress not only for the two states but for the entire region towards overall progress, prosperity and a vibrant economy. He said the meeting of the two business bodies is also a celebration of age-old friendship between the two states.

He thanked the business community of all the districts in the state for ensuring that essential commodities are made available to the public even during difficult times.

DCCI Vice President, V Shikuto Sema delivered the welcome address.

On April 20, the CNCCI and ACC is scheduled to meet during which a number of resolutions are expected to be made concerning business relations between the two states.
