The third NPC (National Physique Committee) Worldwide Nagaland Championship took place at Lorin Hall, Tetso College, Dimapur on October 17. 

Organized by the Nagaland Physique Alliance (NPA), the championship saw the participation of over 50 contestants including four females this year. Including athletes from Nagaland, several others came from neighboring states of Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Karnataka. 

The championship had 13 different categories in total beginning with junior men’s physique (A&B), junior light-weight men’s body building and junior men’s heavy weight body building, open category and women’s bikini.

Bodybuilding: 
In men’s bodybuilding-junior lightweight, Kshitrimayum Singh was placed in first position while in the heavyweight category, Ashi Baruah came in first place. For the men’s bodybuilding open bantamweight, Kedida Newmai was adjudged in first position.

In open lightweight, Alemba Thpngliu came in first while in the open welterweight category, Bikky Sewa was placed first.  Open Middleweight had Wilynder Schanglam in first positon while open light heavyweight had Longjam Johnny Singh was placed first.

Physique: 
In men’s classic physique, Longjam Johnny Singh came in first place, while in Junior A category Kshitrimayum Ringhu Singh got first and in Junior B, Abhishek Roy was placed first. 

For the winners of open class A and B category, Longjam Johnny Roy and Surya Kant Sharma were placed in first positons.

Women’s bikini:  
Meanwhile in the women’s bikini competition, Esibeni Ngullio was placed in first position. 

According to State Head, Tohovi Achumi the event is being supported by the Nagaland School Alliance (CBSE board) and aimed at motivating students to take up fitness as a professional career. With this being the third edition, he mentioned that two athletes from Nagaland were able to qualify and win in the NPC National Championship in Punjab last year. 

This amateur championship is a gateway for athletes to compete in the nationals scheduled to be held in Mumbai during December, he added.
